Problem:
How do I configure my SNOM 190?
Solution:
- You should have recieved a Welcome message that contains all the configuration details you need. If you bought the SNOM 190 from us, most of the settings will already be correct.
- Plug the SNOM 190 Network cable into the back of your broadband router or hub. Don't forget the power cable.
- If you are running DHCP on your LAN, the SNOM 190 should pick up an IP address after a few minutes.
If not, you'll need to assign one manually using the Menu system on the SNOM 190 keypad (Please refer to the SNOM 190 documentation). - On the SNOM 190 keypad, press the "F" menu button.
Using the right arrow key select "Information". Then press the left hand function key under "IPaddr" in the display.
This will display the IP Address of the phone. Write this down somewhere. - Open a browser window and type in this address:
http://SNOM 190 IP Address
(using the IP address from step 4).You should now see the "Welcome to your Phone!" configuration screen.
The settings you need to edit or check are for line 1:
Select "Line 1" from the left hand navigation menu.- In the login Information section, enter the username and password assigned in your welcome email.
In the Registrar section enter, enter the proxy settings advised in your welcome email (unless you bought your SNOM 190
from us, in which case, this will already be set) - In the Advance Line Settings section . Enter nat.gradwell.net:5082
You only need to set an outbound proxy if your router/hub provides NAT. - If you intend to use multiple SNOM 190 phones behind a Nat Firewall you will need to give each phone a unique SIP Port number.
Select Advanced from the left hand navigation menu.
In the Advanced Network: section enter a unique port number into the Network identity (port) setting and select the Network Port radio button. - For example if you have two phones, then you would set the network identity (port) to 5060 for the first phone and 5061 for the second phone.
- Finally, if you are using multiple phones on your broadband connection, or you have a low bandwidth internet connection, then in the Audio Configuration section we recommend you choose G729a as the Preferred Codec. This will allow the phone to use less bandwidth where possible.
- In the login Information section, enter the username and password assigned in your welcome email.
- Click Submit All Changes once you are happy with the settings.
- Your SNOM 190 phone should now be ready to use! Dial 160 to try the echo test. You should hear everything you say echoed back to you.
